Unfortunately, very few employers include salary ranges in their adverts, and this would make the situation that much simpler. On the one hand, I understand their dilemma between wanting to receive the job offer and their expectations, especially if it&#8217;s a position they really care about. However, I believe that if we know that this question is bound to be asked, it should not cause discomfort. You can prepare very well to answer it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to talk about money during a job interview?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some tips on how to answer this &#8216;toughest of questions&#8217;, so that you get the job offer with the highest possible salary without worrying that you will overestimate the amount the employer might offer. How?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Before stating the amount you would like to receive explicitly, <strong>remind the recruiter in a few sentences about your experience, skills, competences<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can prepare this answer at home very easily by analysing the requirements that are included in the job advertisement &#8211; if you meet them, recall specific examples that can illustrate this. <strong>Think about what benefits your experience will bring to the new employer, as well. Practice a few response options at home. <\/strong>At the interview, you will be able to easily talk about your strengths before setting expectations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Never explain the declared amount.<\/strong> Without beating around the bush: the employer is not interested in what you need the money for, just how much you are worth to the company, how much they want to pay for your work (hence the importance of preparing according to the tips above and highlighting your contribution to the company).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always <strong>check how much can be earned in a given position befor<\/strong>e the interview. You can find this information in salary reports on the internet or ask friends in the industry. It is worth taking into account the discrepancies that exist in wages in small and large companies, depending on the capital of the company.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you provide brackets <strong>for fear of giving too high an amount, be aware that you may receive the lower end of the ra<\/strong>nge. It is worth analysing whether this amount will really satisfy you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Provide an amount that really satisfies you + room for negotiation<\/strong>. If you state a lower amount and then you receive a job offer with the amount that you yourself gave during the interview and you do not accept it, it would not be very professional behaviour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t forget about non-salary benefits<\/strong>, which are also a value, often not an insignificant addition to the salary, for instance health insurance, life insurance, extra days off, gym memberships, etc. When you talk about compensation, it is worth keeping these in mind during any negotiations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Hopefully, the summary above will help you better prepare for the conversation about financial expectations.
